Tell me about the facility.
Summerlin Senior Living has opened its doors since 2019 and is fully licensed in the state of Nevada. We’ve been professionals in the field for over 20 years. We have an endorsement for memory care at this facility.
What kind of experience/training does your staff possess?
Our training is solely based on the safety and wellbeing of our residents. We have staff with thorough experience in caregiving and no matter their level of experience we have very complete training for all employees. Our training program includes caregiving training, training on the care of elderly persons, First Aid and CPR, Alzheimer’s, elder abuse prevention, and specialized training on lifting techniques to avoid injury to both the residents as well as the caregivers.
Do you do an initial assessment prior to admission? Can you tell us a summary?
Having a stable and positive environment is essential to our facility’s success. That is why when assessing new admissions, we screen for new residents that show signs of aggression or agitation. Having similar needs as other residents, and needs in general that we will be capable of fully accommodating are essential in order to bring on a new resident.
Tell me a little about your current residents.
Our current residents are such a diverse group! They have varying levels of energy, physical needs, and hobbies. Some, enjoy coffee and watching the news, while others enjoy painting or doing puzzles.
Do you have any outdoor space for the residents?
We have an outdoor space for the residents that accommodates multiple activities. Such activities may be eating meals that we serve outdoors and visiting with family.
What is your discharge policy?
We have a 30-day written notice policy for discharges. If we can’t help a resident with their given needs, we attempt to then provide the family and resident with all possible resources to find a better option that better fits their specific necessities.
What happens when the needs of a resident change?
We are constantly assessing the current needs of our residents and have a formal assessment plan that has us reassessing every 6 months. If a resident’s level of care and needs have changed, we will then activate a new plan of care for that resident. This allows us to meet their specific needs.
What are the visiting hours? Are there any restrictions?
Due to COVID-19, the visitation policy of our residence has been greatly changed and only allowed under certain circumstances. Upon accepting any visitors, we require bodily temperature readings, hand hygiene performance, signs/symptoms assessment, social distancing, and face masks are required. In the future, we will reassess our visitation times and policy.
Tell me about the food.
All of our daily meals are prepared at the facilities and prepared fresh for each meal, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We have a daily food menu plan that gives all of our residents a high level of nutrition and allows them to have alternative options on what they want to eat as well.
What time do you serve the food? What about snacks?
We serve breakfast between 7:00-8:00, lunch 12:00-12:30, and dinner 4:30-5:30. Snacks are also always available throughout the day.
Where may I find the state inspection grade, for my review?
The state inspection grades are available and on display at our facilities.
What about privacy for the resident?
We make ample attempts to accommodate each resident’s privacy requests. If they wish to not interact with other residents and want to have alone time or other requests, they shall always be accommodated.
How is the medication ordered and replenished? Does the facility handle this or does the family assist with this?
All medications are handled by our facility with the use of pharmacies that both fill and deliver the medications. In order for a resident’s medications to be delivered and filled the resident or their family must change their pharmacy to ones that we use. If the resident/family does not make the switch, then the resident/family becomes responsible for delivering and filling the medications.
What is the monthly cost?
The minimum cost for a shared resident room starts at $4,000.00 and a private room starts at $4,500.00, however, the pricing for each resident is often different to some degree depending on what level of care they require and what level of privacy they prefer.
What are your billing policies and payment policies?
Upon admission, we require a $500.00 deposit fee in order to save the room before we bring in the new resident. From there, the rent for each resident is due on the 1st of each month. Late fees apply to individuals who miss this deadline.
Are all the services included in the monthly fee? If not, what and how much are the additional services?
The monthly fee includes everything that is included in the residence. We provide three meals a day plus snacks, 24-hour care and supervision, activities, laundry services, medication management, beauty services, incontinence care, in-house doctor, pharmacy delivery, and assistance with ADL’s.
